The groundbreaking Volvo XC60 clinched the Premium Compact SUV recognition at the recently held 6th Annual C! Magazine Awards. This recognition reinforces the top qualities of this bold, sporty and muscular AWD vehicle with the world’s first preventive safety technology – City Safety.

City Safety is a function that senses if vehicles ahead are moving more slowly or are at a standstill. In a situation where the calculated braking force needed reaches a certain level and the driver has not reacted, the City Safety function senses that a collision is imminent.
The function is a standard feature that is active if the car's speed is below 30 km/h. In situations where the difference in speed between the two vehicles is 15 km/h or less, a collision can be completely avoided. In a potential collision situation in which the difference in speed between the vehicles is between 15-30 km/h, the consequences of the impending collision can be considerably reduced because the system will intervene to reduce speed before the collision
occurs.

The XC60 is charged with emotive form and energy, offered locally with a 2.4L turbocharged engine and a 3.0L petrol engine that spews out 285bhp and 420Nm of torque. With the new Volvo XC60, Volvo Cars takes yet another step in offering cars that are fun to drive yet comfortable to ride in. The compact format and the precise road attributes mean the XC60 can make its way equally elegantly both on city tarmac and along country lanes.
It is sturdily built to handle all operating conditions with the body having extra torsional rigidity and the sporty chassis setup means the car is precisely controlled and minimizes roll tendencies even in demanding driving situations.
Weight is optimally distributed between the front and rear axles, which contributes to good balance and traction. A sporty and dynamic car with tasteful exterior and interior design, it also offers versatile
functionality and practical loading spaces.

The Volvo XC60 can now easily be driven home with the Volvo Interest-free Program. With this program, aspiring Volvo owners can drive home the Volvo of their choice at 0% interest and with monthly installments for as long as 36 months. This offer runs from July 11 – 31, 2010 only.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. exhibits the winning CR-V shots of Club EOS finalists who took part of the recently concluded basic car photography workshop entitled, ‘Honda CR-V: Capturing Cross Over with Club EOS.’ Organized by Honda, in cooperation with Canon Marketing Philippines, Club EOS members spent a whole day of learning under the tutelage of John Chua, one of the country’s premier figures in the realm of advertising and automotive photography.

The workshop provided 29 club members the opportunity to learn key aspects in the field of automotive photography using their Canon EOS cameras. Having proper lighting, creative angles and use of appropriate camera settings are some of the basic considerations in bringing out the car’s most complementing lines and over-all premium finish.

Taking the center stage is the 2010 Honda CR-V. With its new front grille design, refreshed bumpers, modern alloy wheel designs and clear-cut lines, the photography workshop aimed to creatively capture the more refined and tougher look of the CR-V.

More than just styling, the CR-V is environment-friendly too. The CR-V, just line any other Honda models, has cleaner exhaust emissions that meet the stringent EURO 4 levels, even if Philippine regulations only require EURO 2.

“Having modern styling and earth-friendly characteristics to boot, we challenged Club EOS finalists to work on the themes ‘Sophistication and Refinement’ and ‘In Harmony with Nature’.” said Mr. Voltaire Gonzales, HCPI’s Vehicle Sales and Corporate Communications Head. “Actually, we were very excited at the onset of this project since this was our first time to stage a car photography workshop. Much has been talked about landscape or portrait photography but only a few about automotive photography. And so, we thought of having this specialized type of workshop for better appreciation of car design and styling.” he added.

Known for his keen attention to details, John Chua opted to share his expertise in settings with excellent photography opportunities like the Mall of Asia grounds and in Lighthouse Resort in Subic. Participants not only got to photograph the CR-V as the main subject of the workshop but also got to enjoy its agile performance, comfortable sedan-like ride, spacious cabin area and big cargo room for camera paraphernalia and accessories.

“The looks of the new 2010 CR-V speaks of beauty and power. My short experience driving it to Subic only confirmed that this machine is not only beautiful but powerful as well! The CR-V hugs the road like train in its rail…so secure. It was also quiet inside that driving at 110 kph felt like I was running on 60 kph.” shared by Club EOS member, Mr. Tynn Daez.

From the official entries of the 29 Club EOS participants, entries were then trimmed down to six finalists. Find out who among the finalists bested the car photography workshop. Visit the Honda CR-V display in Alabang Town Center’s Corte de las Palmas from July 23-25, 2010 and Trinoma from July 30- August 1, 2010 and check out the photo gallery. See clearly and drive safely with clear headlamps. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. announces the introduction of its latest service that restores the condition of headlamp lens.

Over time, plastic headlamp lenses turn cloudy yellow in color. Exposure to UV rays, smog, acid rain, chemicals and other harsh elements cause plastic oxidation. This natural deterioration can pose danger when driving at night because hazy lenses impair vision and cut viewable distance, thereby, delaying perception and reaction to possible road hazards. Studies show that better visibility improve driving response time of up to a full second or more. At highway speed, this equates to almost four (4) cars of extra stopping distance.

Most shops only polish the headlamp lenses but Honda goes beyond the usual by including a re-application of a specially formulated UV protective coating which is cured using infra-red drying equipment as part of the package to shield lenses from harsh sunlight.

Restore your car’s headlamps back to its near original state within a few hours. Valued at Php 2,400, this is made available at the introductory rate of Php 1,400 which translates to more than 40% savings. This introductory rate is subject to change without prior notice. This new service is initially available at selected Honda dealers located in Quezon City, Kalookan, Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Isabela, Nueva Ecija and Ilocos Norte. For more details, visit www.hondaphil.com.

The Twilight Saga is one of the most popular film franchises and once again Edward Cullen drives a Volvo XC60.

Search on the Internet using the string "Volvo/Twilight/Eclipse" and you will get more than two million hits, including photographs and lengthy fan discussions of the exact color nuance of Edward Cullen's Volvo. The interest is astonishing.

In the novels, the hero Edward Cullen drives a Volvo S60R - the previous S60 model. However, when the time came to make the films, Volvo was no longer producing the S60R so a Volvo C30 was used in the first film and a Volvo XC60 in the next two. Volvo Car's appearance in the first film in the franchise, Twilight, led to increased sales of the Volvo C30 at several Volvo dealers, particularly in the US market. After the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, dealers reported increased interest in the Volvo XC60 and noted that customers came to showrooms to photograph their children in the "Twilight car". Volvo is being increasingly perceived by youngsters as "cool", and moms of teenagers are showing increasing interest, thanks to the enthusiasm of their kids.

This was also evident during the recently held Eclipse Exclusive Screening by Volvo Philippines at the Cinema 2000 of Shangri-la EDSA Mall.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, Bella (Stewart) once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward (Pattinson) and her friendship with Jacob (Lautner) - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

About the TWILIGHT SAGA film series
The TWILIGHT film series stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen, a pale, mysterious
classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together...even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires. The action-packed, modern day vampire love story TWILIGHT, the first
film in the series, was released in theatres on November 21, 2008 to a blockbuster reception. The second instalment of the film franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON was released 20 November, 2009. The franchise has grossed over $1.1 billion
in worldwide box office ticket sales to date.
