Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) was recently presented with an Outstanding Community Projects Award during the 2011 PEZA Investors’ Awards Night held at the World Trade Center.

His Excellency, President Benigno Aquino III, with DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo and PEZA Director General Laila de Lima, awarded the plaque to HCPI in recognition of its significant relationship with the community through scholarship programs, free medical and dental services, tree planting, gift giving or similar pro-community projects. Selection criteria included the company’s involvement in community activities for a period of three years, significant number of recipients and substantial effect to the community.

Dedicated to be a company that society wants to exist, HCPI looks after the welfare of its nearby community. HCPI, in coordination with the Department of Health and Philippine National Red Cross, regularly conducts blood letting program for patients in need of immediate blood transfusion.

HCPI has also been involved in several tree planting activities in varied areas including Laguna, Batangas and Quezon City as part of its fervent commitment to leave blue skies for the next generation. Just last year, in celebration of its 20thanniversary, HCPI supported Haribon Foundation’s Road to 2020 project by adopting 20 hectares of denuded land in Cavinti Watershed. Road to 2020 aims to restore one million hectare of rainforest by year 2020.

During Holy Week, HCPI provides on-site roadside assistance to motorists encountering problems during their long distance travel through its Honda Emergency Assistance Team (HEAT) program. For 18 years now, HCPI has been providing free services like diagnostic system check-up and 18-point check-up, to both Honda and non-Honda vehicles, as part of its public service and road safety advocacy.

Before opening of classes, HCPI provides assistance to nearby schools through its Brigada Eskwela project. HCPI offers logistical and manpower support to clean and prepare classrooms for the incoming students. It includes donation of paint, cleaning materials and repair of school tables and chairs.

Meanwhile, Honda also reaches out to elders and street children. Every year, Honda donates to Bahay ni Maria, a home for abandoned elders and street children in Calamba, Laguna which is being run by missionary nuns.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., in partnership with local government units and non-government organizations, will continue giving back to the community in appreciation of the market’s passionate support to the brand, its products and services.
