Volvo Team wins in STV Auto Rally

The Volvo Rally Team clinched awards in all categories including third runner-up in the Corporate Championship at the recently concluded STV Auto Rally held at Subic Bay Freeport. Battling veteran teams, Volvo’s first foray into this annual activity produced impressive results, also taking home the wins for Best Time at Checkpoint 6 with the Volvo C30 as Team Car and 3rd Runner Up for the Team Championship Category with the All-New Volvo S60 2.0L as their winning vehicle.

The Volvo Rally Team is composed of three different groups, all displaying a certain kind of dynamism also seen on the new breed of Volvos. The nimble Volvo C30 sports coupe was driven by the young and exuberant Volvo Sales and Marketing Team Froilan Valencia, Gerald Lauron and Shirley Jutie while the 340-hp All-New Volvo S60 T6 was maneuvered by the equally spirited team of Volvo clients Harvey Angsanto, Edwin Esmani, and Volvo Marketing Assistant Eric Ho. What also turned heads aside from the bedecked red All-New Volvo S60 2L was the participation of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Champions Janice Lagman, Rani Ann Ortega and their coach Igor Mella in the rally, all revved up with the discipline, passion and style reminiscent of the Volvo S60 they are driving.

All first-timers, the Volvo Rally Team was eager to get things rolling and get their first taste of running around the tarmac. A slight drizzle made the roads slippery but thanks to the impressive handling and Dynamic Stability and Traction Control of the cars, the Volvo teams zipped around Subic and drove its way to victory.

“We are happy to be part of the STV Auto Rally this year”, quipped Roselyn Dimalanta, Volvo’s 1st Executive Vice President. “We were confident with our cars and our team and we looked forward to having fun. Winning was definitely the cherry on top, though.”
