Another world first safety technology in Volvo’s newest SUV.

Volvo Cebu proudly introduces the world’s first car that can stop traffic. And itself. In an event designed to stop guests in their tracks, Volvo has once again proved its position as a leader in safety technology with the launch of the Volvo XC60 with City Safety.

World-first City Safety as standard

Up to 90% of all traffic accidents are caused by driver distraction. 75% of all reported collisions occur at speeds of up to 30kph. Half of these occur in city traffic. With Volvo’s City Safety, the risk of slamming into the vehicle in front is lessened. A Volvo world-first standard safety feature, the laser sensor that is integrated into the top of the windshield at the height of the rearview mirror can detect vehicles and other objects up to 18 feet in front of the XC60's bumper. This laser-based technology can automatically brake the XC60 to help avoid running into a slower or standstill vehicle going at the same direction or mitigate the effects of a collision. In cases such as these, City Safety makes a crucial difference. Not only does it protect the driver and its passengers, it also limits the risk of injury to the occupants of the car in front.

“We are extremely pleased to formally introduce this groundbreaking vehicle to the Cebu market. The XC60 is not only stunning to look at but it is also a smart SUV – the first in the world that can stop itself when it detects an impending collision. It’s truly remarkable and we just want our valued clients and Volvo enthusiasts here in Cebu to experience a different breed of Volvo,” remarks Mr. Franklyn O. Ong, President of Pasajero Motors Corporation, the authorized dealer of Volvo cars in Cebu.

Volvo’s New Face

The Volvo XC60 exhibits Volvo’s new DNA -- an all-wheel drive SUV that carries the characteristics of Volvo’s Dramatic New Approach. The iconic badge in the trapezoidal grille has been made bolder, with the square blue plate removed, making the Volvo Ironmark exude more confidence and visibility. It swiftly fills the rearview mirror of the car in front - a signal that Volvo's dynamic future has arrived.

The XC60 previews Volvo's new face, with attitude and strength, filled with expression and personality. It artfully fuses the dynamic elements of a capable and robust crossover in its lower half and the sleek, fine lines of a sporty coupe up top. LED lamps strips in front enhances the unmistakable Volvo V-line bonnet while LED lights also set in the tail lamps give the pronounced shoulder line a more muscular look and act as a valuable safety aid.

The new XC60 is packed with energy on the inside too. All the passengers sit comfortably in the newly designed X-themed seats, yet it's obvious that the driver is in charge –surrounded by ergonomically designed instruments and intelligent safety systems than in any previous Volvos.

The introduction of Volvo’s first panoramic sunroof, available locally in the T6 version, considerably lightens the interior. With two glass panels that can be operated at the push of a button, this feature not enhances the experience of light and air in the Xc60 but also helps protect from UV radiation. The two-piece glass is also laminated for added safety.

Unleash your drive

With two variants launched locally – a highly-efficient 2.4L 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine running at 185bhp and a powerful 3.0L 6-cylinder twin-scroll turbo with CVVT spewing 285 bhp – customers can take their pick and choose the one that best suits their lifestyle. Whether it is in the city or in a jaunt out of town, the XC60 can perform with enthusiasm and poise.

Volvo's engineers have endowed the XC60 with a finely tuned suspension to provide both sporty handling and a smooth ride. The body is exceptionally rigid, while the sporty chassis setup enables the car to be precisely controlled to minimize roll tendencies in demanding driving situations. Volvo's DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) function has been further developed in the new Volvo XC60 in order to help providing even more stable driving. DSTC registers deviations between the driver's intended direction and the car's actual direction. The enhanced DSTC function registers the car's roll rate as well, giving the opportunity to detect slowly built up skids.

Loaded with style and attitude, the Volvo XC60 is an all-road capable, sports-coupé sensational and technologically advanced. With its cutting-edge safety and modern Scandinavian design, the Volvo XC60 comes with new perspectives on urban traveling.
